Today is
the first meeting of advanced english engineering by Mr. Aji. In this first
meeting, Mr. Aji just explaining what are we going to do in this semester. In this
semester, we are going to study about :
1.
Write formal & informal letters
2.
Make an interview with foreigner
3.
Create a resume
4.
Report a news
5.
Reporting a survey or investigation about ICT
After explaining all of that, Mr.
Aji give us a task about reviewing “Lion King” movie and it will be discussed
on the next meeting. And for the weekly task, each student must write a weekly
report and upload it.
This is the first week I’m in English Engineering class, precisely on September 2nd, with Mr. Aji Prasetya. In this first meeting, Mr. Aji gave the students more intermezzos than English Engineering lessons. He told the students about knowledge and attitude.
He told us that knowledge is something important that we must have. If we have many knowledges, we dont have to worry to facing any problems in our life. He also said that knowledge can empowers us, but it’s not a power to make other people looks so stupid, our knowledge is used to helping people to solve their problem.
Mr Aji also gave us a quote, “It’s your ATTITUDE not your APTITUDE that determines your ALTITUDE”. And i think that quote is really good. To be successful in any area in life we need to have the right attitude, which means we have to approach any task or job with determination, tenacity and above all plenty of enthusiasm. Of course, it is important for people to have knowledges, skills, training and experience but I have always been a huge believer in putting attitude above aptitude. We can come fully equipped for a role but without real enthusiasm the best skill-set will count for very little. We can train somebody and give them the tools but we can’t give them the right attitude.
In this meeting, Mr.Aji also told us about our activities that we will do during one-semester. One of the activities is write a weekly report like this. And also we will learn about formal and informal letters. Mr Aji also said that at the moment of this class, the students have to study out of classroom. For example, interviewing foreign tourist in Malang. We also learn about writing resume, writing report from TV or radio, and present survey or investigation about ICT.
At the end of class, Mr Aji gave the students an assignment to watch “The Lion King” movie, and re-telling it in front of the class next week. I was very happy to join this English Engineering class, the class is so enjoyable. Mr.Aji also never forgot to give me and my friends many inspirations and motivations. Thank you Mr.Aji J
