Weekly Report – 30 September 2014
In this lesson we retelling a horror
movie “Malam Satu Suro” in front of the class.
Before story telling Mr. Aji divided the class become 2 group, group A
and B. And Fawzul and Singgih enter the group B. After that Mr. Aji ask the
class to image what number your group and when you know the number, raise your
hand and the number to Mr. Aji, and don’t forget the number that you had. Fawzul
and Singgih is in Group B number Five (5). The rules are simple the person in a
group will tell in Indonesia language and the other translate in English
language.
Then, we start the story telling. The group who came to front the class
was randomly choose by Mr. Aji from group A to group B. Fawzul and Singgih then
came to front the class, with Singgih tell the story in Indonesian language and
Fawzul translate to English language. We did it pretty well. The story that we
tell is “Mr. Joni offer a cooperation business with Mr. Bardo but, Mr. bardo
reject Mr. Joni’s business offer.”
We tell the story twice in front of class. The second time, Fawzul tell
in Indonesia language and Singgih translate to English language. This time we
tell “After knew that Mr. Joni was kill by Suketi, Mak Tolo get angry then
attack Suketi”.
It was fun, we can learn how to speak in English not only writing in
English. The other student just do the same like us. But, some student didn’t
attend the class so, some group only consist of one person they are Winda and
Ayu. And the student who didn’t attend the class are Hari and Ahmad.
After the story is finished, Mr. Aji end the lesson. But before that, he
give the class assignment to interview a person who can speak English language
in fluently. The group must have evident like photos or recording when
interview the person. So next week, the class will presentation they result of
interview a person who can speak English language in fluently.
1st
Night Of Suro
At the beginning of the
movie, in the middle of a forest, the ghost of a woman who haunts Sundel Bolong
(a ghost who had a hole in her back) perforated raised from the grave by Ki
Rengga, a Javanese shaman magic to serve the gosht as his adopted daughter.
Because he want to make
the ghost his daughter then he then drove the nails into the head of the ghost
named Suketi, the curious spirits. Then Ki Renggo, the Javanese Shaman cast
spells and suddenly Suketi transform to be human again. After that Ki Renggo
took her to his house to raise as his adopted daughter.
One day two young men
from Jakarta was hunting rabbits in the forest that Ki Renggo Lived with Suketi
and his wife. The Hunter then meet a
rabbit. And the hunter, Bardo Ardiyanto with his friend nearly killing the
rabbit, but was prevented by a beautiful woman. He was curious about the woman
and eventually met with Suketi. Bardo and Suketi instantly fell in love. Bardo
and his friend come back to the city. But Bardo want to propose Suketi. So,
Bardo and his friend back to the forest where Suketi Lived.
Initially the propose
was rejected by Ki Rengga, Suketi adoptive father, but eventually agreed with
the proposed because Ki Renggo and his wife feel sad when saw Suketi ask to them
if she wants to married him too. And after Bardo and Suketi sincere and
encouragement to adoptive parents.
But Bardo must following
the condition from Ki Rengga if the marriage should be held at the "1st
Night of the Suro" (Date 1 Sura, the new year in the Javanese
calendar) in the middle of Alas Roban ("Roban Forest") without the
presence of anyone but Ki Rengga the shaman Java itself and Suketi and Bardo.
The wedding was held in ancient Javanese mystical ritual dances accompanied by
fairies.
After that Suketi and
Bardo get married. A few years later, Suketi and Bardo have a happy family that
life in Jakarta with their two children, Rio and Preti. Their families also
became rich because it is said to a man who marry Sundel Bolong will become
rich. One day Joni, a cunning businessman offering a business deal to Bardo in
Bardo’s Office, but was rejected due to Joni’s dirty tactics. Joni hold grudges
and intend to revenge Bardo. Joni came to another Javenesee Shamaan, Mak Talo.
Mak Tolo known that
Bardo’s wife, Suketi was once Sundel Bolong. Mak Talo and Joni went to Bardo house
and pulling the nail that stuck on Suketi’s head. They succed the plan so
Suketi turned back into Sundel Bolong.
Later that night Bardo
come to his father-in law in the village. His father in-law, Ki Renggo tell
Bardo the real nature of Suketi is Sundel Bolong. He tell Bardo, Suketi once a
young woman who committed suicide after being raped and pregnant, and her soul doesn’t
rest in peace and transformed
into a ghost Sundel Bolong to revenge the person that do the awful thing to
her. After the revenge she is back to
the afterlife world. But then, Ki Renggo revived Suketi and turned her to be a
human again and adopted her as his daughter.
After Suketi is back
become Sundel Bolong, she fell very sad because her happy life was destroyed.
The situation grew tense when Preti, Suketi and Bardo’s daughter got kidnapped
by a group of kidnappers who conspire with Javanese shaman, Mak Talo, Joni and
his underling.
The kidnappers want some
money if Bardo want his daughter live. But in the process Preti was killed accidentally
by one of the Kidnappers. Suketi became furious and raging after learning that
her daughter was killed. Suketi the Sundel Bolong began to plot her revenge to
Joni ,and his underling.
Suketi was sad and intends
to return to his family, in Bardo’s house she was playing piano by singing
"Happy Night" Vina Panduwinata, so Rio and his father woke up. They
sadly parted with Suketi and stated that their nature is different. Suketi then
said "My soul will haunt before my revenge was done" before leaving
Rio and his father.
Suketi which endured grief and revenge then
dig graves daughter, Preti. Then her bodies placed into a coffin with her
favorite doll. Suketi, the Sundel Bolong then began to revenge the person who
disturb her life.
Then Suketi get revege
and kill one by one of the kidnappers, and Joni’s underling. Joni knew if
suketi was kill his underling and search Mak Tolo and asked her to protect him
from Suketi. Mak Tolo say if Joni want to live they must kill Suketi, the
Sundel Bolong.
So Mak Tolo and Joni
went to Suketi’s grave, Suketi who knew the person that came to her grave
attack them and inted to kill them. Suketi then attack Joni and managed to kill
him. Mak Tolo get angry start attack Suketi, but she lost due to the Suketi’s
power as Sundel Bolong.
Suketi managed to kill
Mak Tolo too. Finally she managed to avenge person who destroy her life and
Preti Kidnappers. After the fight Bardo, Rio, Ki Rengga and the nearby
communities arrive in Suketi’s graveyard.
In a sad scene, Bardo
and Rio convince Suketi that love would last forever though Suketi back to
afterlife. Suketi left a message to Bardo in order to keep Rio sincerely and
Rio to be a useful person and study diligently. Suketi accompanied by a puff of
smoke then disappear back into the afterlife world.
